Finland sees warm start to July before rain and thunderstorms move in mid‑week

A warm air mass will dominate Finland at the beginning of July, with temperatures in the south‑west approaching 30 °C and most of the country experiencing sunny or partly cloudy conditions. Daytime highs elsewhere range between 23 °C and 27 °C in the south and west, 18 °C to 24 °C in the east and north, and cooler 12 °C to 17 °C in northern Lapland.

From Thursday onward, a low‑pressure system will bring increasingly unsettled weather. Rain showers and occasional thunderstorms are expected, especially over western and southern coastal areas, with temperatures dropping about five degrees when rain arrives. Friday remains largely rainy, particularly in the western regions, while nights will see temperatures fall to 14 °C–18 °C in most of the country and 9 °C–15 °C in Lapland. The forecast indicates a shift to cooler, wetter conditions for the remainder of the week.
