Finland to experience frost and heavy rainfall
Finland is expected to experience a significant drop in temperatures and increased precipitation in the coming days. Foreca meteorologist Joanna Rinne reports that a high-pressure ridge will initially bring clear but very cold conditions. Frost is anticipated between Sunday and Monday, potentially reaching central and even southern parts of the country, marking one of the coldest nights of the autumn so far.
Following the cold spell, a series of low-pressure systems will move across Finland. Starting Monday evening in Lapland and spreading nationwide by Tuesday, heavy rainfall is expected, with accumulations between 5–10 mm in many areas and up to 15–30 mm across the week. The heaviest rain is forecasted for the North Ostrobothnia and Kainuu regions.
Long-term outlooks from the ECMWF suggest that the cool and rainy pattern will persist through the coming weeks, with temperatures in southern and central Finland ranging between 13°C and 18°C, while Lapland will see highs of 10–14°C.
