Finland weather warning: Low pressure brings heavy rain and wind

A low-pressure system approaching from the south and east is expected to bring unstable weather to Finland over the weekend. The Finnish Meteorological Institute warns that the system may cause heavy rainfall and strong, gusty winds, particularly in the southern and eastern parts of the country.

Boaters in the Gulf of Finland are advised to prepare for rapidly increasing winds. On land, strong winds could potentially cause trees to fall and lead to power outages. The heaviest precipitation is forecasted for Uusimaa, Kymenlaakso, and Päijät-Häme, with total rainfall amounts expected to be in the 20–30 millimeter range.

While the system is currently projected to impact the south and east, meteorologists note that the path and timing of the low pressure, which is developing in Central Europe, could still change significantly. Temperatures are expected to remain around 20 degrees Celsius during the day, dropping toward 10–15 degrees Celsius at night.
