Finnish growers report notable potato harvest developments

In Finland, local growers are reporting notable developments in their potato harvests. In Kisko, gardener Terho Nurmi discovered a massive Colomba variety potato weighing 516 grams. Nurmi noted that the variety is highly productive, often yielding up to 12 large potatoes per stem, and expects a bountiful harvest from his sandy, south-facing garden.

In Hämeenkyrö, farmer Tommi Yrjölä manages a berry farm that also produces fresh potatoes for direct sale. Using varieties such as Siikli and Annabelle, the farm sees peak demand around Midsummer. Yrjölä observed a shift in consumer behavior, noting that customers tend to buy smaller quantities for immediate use rather than stockpiling large amounts for winter as they did in previous decades.
