Fira Tàrrega announces festival theme of Celebration

The Fira Tàrrega festival has announced its programming for the upcoming edition, centered around the theme of ‘Celebration’. Artistic director Anna Giribet stated the goal is to reconnect with the festival's 1981 roots by bringing theatre to the streets to foster festive reclamation and community gathering.

The programming aims to balance joy with social and political critique. While many shows will use comedy, dance, or circus to celebrate, others will address serious global issues. For instance, the inaugural show, ‘Incontinuo’ by the company Kamchátka, will use an immersive format to pay tribute to the courage of migrants.

The festival features a diverse lineup, with approximately 50% of companies coming from Catalonia, 25% from Spain, and 25% from international locations. A significant portion of the participants—57% of the 32 companies mentioned—will be performing at Fira Tàrrega for the first time, highlighting a mix of emerging voices and established groups.
