The 46th edition of the Fira Tàrrega festival has begun detailing its programming and thematic direction. The festival will center on the theme of ‘Celebration’, an approach artistic director Anna Giribet says aims to reconnect with the event’s 1981 roots by using street theatre to foster community gathering and festive reclamation.

The programming is designed to balance joy with social and political critique, featuring a mix of comedy, dance, and circus alongside works addressing global issues, such as the company Kamchátka’s immersive tribute to the courage of migrants.

Regional and international participation is a key component of the lineup. The festival will feature eight companies from the Lleida region, representing 14% of the total programming. Overall, approximately 50% of participating companies are from Catalonia, 25% from Spain, and 25% from international locations. Notably, 57% of the 32 mentioned companies will be performing at Fira Tàrrega for the first time.
