Fire at Monteur Pension in Malsch, Germany injures one and forces evacuation of 35

A kitchen fire broke out in the first‑floor apartment of a Monteur pension in Malsch, Baden‑Württemberg, early on June 5 2026. The blaze was promptly extinguished by a large firefighting operation involving 55 firefighters, 13 vehicles and additional units from neighboring towns.

At the time of the incident 35 people were staying in the building. One person suffered severe smoke‑gas intoxication and was taken to a nearby hospital; four others received on‑scene medical care. The police opened an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire.

The response also included extensive medical support from the local DRK team, multiple ambulances, two emergency physician units and police securing the area and coordinating the evacuation.
