House Fires Strike Timișoara, Romania and Chișinău, Moldova

In Timișoara, Romania, a fire broke out on the attic of a residence on Dan Căpitan Street in the Blașcovici area around 14:30. Two occupants were affected: a woman who jumped from the attic and was found unconscious, and a man who sustained a wound to his left upper arm. Both were taken to hospital after emergency services, including multiple ISU fire units and SMURD ambulances, arrived on scene and contained the blaze.

In Chișinău, Moldova, firefighters responded to a blaze in the Botanica district on 19 May 2026 at a house on Maramureș Street 121. The fire originated in an attached garage; four fire crews extinguished it without any injuries. The garage was completely destroyed and about 10 m² of the house’s interior were damaged. Gas cylinders were removed to prevent an explosion. Both incidents were logged by the respective emergency services as localized fires with no broader impact.
