Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave announced by Nintendo

Nintendo and Intelligent Systems are preparing the eighteenth main installment of the Fire Emblem franchise, titled ‘Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave’. Set seven years after ‘Fire Emblem: Three Houses’, the game features a narrative that bridges a desolate future plagued by the undead with a past centered around the Heroic Games in the Dagdan Empire.

Players can control four distinct protagonists known as the Flame Lords—Cai, Theodora, Leday, and Dietrich—exploring their stories simultaneously rather than through separate playthroughs. The gameplay combines traditional grid-based tactical combat with turn-based JRPG elements and group skill deployment.

The series continues to utilize its signature ‘Weapon Triangle’ mechanic, a strategic system where specific weapon types hold advantages over others: swords defeat axes, axes defeat spears, and spears defeat swords. This system provides mathematical bonuses to accuracy and damage, requiring players to carefully plan army composition and turn sequences.
