Fire engulfs residential building in Schweich, Germany, injuring residents

A large fire broke out on Friday afternoon in a residential building on Isseler Straße in Schweich, Germany. The blaze started in an annex of the multi‑family house and quickly spread to the entire structure, producing meter‑high flames from windows and the roof.

More than 150 firefighters from Schweich, Wittlich‑Land, Ruwer and Trier‑Land were deployed, including two aerial ladders and numerous breathing‑apparatus teams. Police warned motorists to avoid the area and issued warnings via public‑alert apps; several streets remained closed.

One resident was rescued but suffered severe burns and was air‑lifted by Air Rescue Luxembourg to a specialized clinic in Ludwigshafen. Additional injuries were reported, though details were not released. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
