Fire Engulfs Vehicles in Königswinter Hotel Parking Garage
On Saturday afternoon at 16:54 local time, the voluntary fire brigade of Königswinter responded to a major blaze in the underground parking garage of the Hotel Petersberg. Two cars were ignited and a third vehicle was damaged by the fire. The hotel’s alarm system triggered an evacuation of the building. Firefighters entered the garage with breathing apparatus and, after about 30 minutes, brought the fire under control, fully extinguishing it within an hour. Roughly 120 personnel from multiple fire stations and rescue services participated, and a single person examined by paramedics required no hospital treatment. The police have opened an investigation into the cause of the fire.
The incident caused no injuries and the damage was limited to the vehicles and the garage structure. The response also included ventilation, safety checks, and decontamination of the fire crews.
