Fire in Koropi, Greece Mobilizes 63 Firefighters and Aerial Units

On Wednesday around midday, a fire ignited in low vegetation in the Dri̱ggia area of Koropi, near the industrial zone (B.I.P.E.). The blaze was classified as high fire‑risk (category 4) and prompted an immediate emergency response.

The operation deployed 63 firefighters, three foot‑patrol teams of the 1st EMODE, 20 fire engines, two firefighting aircraft, four helicopters (one serving as coordinator), municipal water tankers and drone surveillance equipped with thermal and visual cameras. At about 14:00 the 112 emergency service sent a readiness alert to residents, urging them to stay in place and follow civil‑protection instructions; no evacuation order was issued. An arson‑investigation unit was also mobilised to determine the cause.
