Effective Monday, June 29 2026, Stage 1 fire restrictions were imposed across Douglas County, Colorado, and the Carson and Bridgeport Ranger Districts of western Nevada. The measures aim to lower wildfire risk during heightened fire danger.

In Douglas County, the restrictions ban open burning, fireworks, model rockets, and limit campfires to specific settings. Permitted activities include fires on liquid‑ or gas‑fueled stoves, fireplaces, charcoal grills, and regulated professional fireworks. Violations are classified as a Class 2 petty offense, punishable by up to a $1,000 fine and a $10 surcharge.

Nevada’s restrictions prohibit building or maintaining fires except by permit in developed campgrounds, restrict smoking to enclosed vehicles or cleared areas, ban the use of motorized equipment on dry vegetation, and limit welding or open‑flame torches without a permit. District fire management officer Isaac Walden urged the public to stay vigilant, especially on red‑flag days. The restrictions remain in effect until rescinded.
