Firefighters battle vegetation fires in Acre while Mato Grosso reports no new incidents

Firefighting teams in Brazil have reported varying levels of activity regarding vegetation fires. In Cruzeiro do Sul, Acre, the Fire Department responded to five separate vegetation fires on a single Sunday. One incident in the Ramal do Zé Alves area burned approximately 10 hectares, while another in the Saboeiro neighborhood posed risks to nearby residences and electrical wiring.

Captain Laiza Mendonça noted that vegetation fire occurrences in the first days of October have already seen a 50% increase compared to the same period in 2025. Authorities have warned that the dry season facilitates rapid fire spread and urged the public to avoid burning debris or clearing land using fire.

In contrast, the Military Fire Department of Mato Grosso reported no forest fire occurrences on the same Sunday. Monitoring through the 'Operação Infravermelho' and satellite data from the National Institute for Space Research (Inpe) showed no heat spots in the state within the last 24 hours. Emergency teams in Mato Grosso remain on standby to respond to potential risks.
