Firefighters Contain Wildfires in San Martino in Pensilis and Montemitro, Italy

On July 17, firefighters from the Termoli fire station responded to a blaze that ignited around noon in San Martino in Pensilis, engulfing roughly one hundred hay bales. After eight hours of fighting the fire, the crews prevented the flames from reaching nearby animal shelters and secured the area.

Later the same day, a second fire broke out near the Santa Lucia church in Montemitro, consuming about four hectares of vegetation. Units from the Campobasso provincial fire command, supported by forest‑fire teams, Carabinieri Forestali and the operations director, contained and extinguished the blaze, subsequently securing the site.
