Firefighters extinguish local blazes in Bulgaria and North Macedonia

In the Haskovo region of southern Bulgaria, firefighters responded to several incidents on a single day. A building in the village of Golemantsi ignited while residents prepared winter crops, prompting the deployment of two fire trucks. The blaze threatened a nearby residential structure but was contained, and earlier in the day dry‑grass fires and a minor car fire were also reported.

In the town of Ohrid, North Macedonia, a fire that broke out in the Goce Delchev (Baraki) settlement was fully extinguished thanks to the combined efforts of the local fire unit, 17 firefighters, four fire vehicles, and volunteer residents. The fire consumed degraded forested area and dry grass, and strong winds had raised concerns about it reaching nearby buildings, but material damage was avoided.
