Firefighters report increased incidents in Subotica and Split

In Subotica, Serbia, authorities have reported 21 fires in homes, apartments, and business premises since the start of the heating season. Zoltan Horvat, commander of the Subotica Fire and Rescue Department, noted that this exceeds the 16 fires recorded during the same period last year. Primary causes include dirty or faulty chimneys, faulty electrical installations, and unattended heating elements, though Horvat attributed the increase largely to human error and negligence.

In Split, Croatia, firefighters responded to various emergencies, including a truck fire on Kopilica Street and grass fires in Bračevici and Drumu that burned approximately 9,000 square meters of vegetation. Additionally, emergency crews performed a technical intervention at the KBC Split hospital to remove a ring from a patient's hand.
