Emergency service incidents in Split and Subotica

Overview

Emergency responders in Split-Dalmatia County, Croatia, managed several incidents in early October, including a significant open-space fire between Seget Donji and Seget Vranjica. Other responses in the region involved traffic accidents, technical interventions, and suspected dangerous gas in a residential building.

By November, reports indicated a rise in fire incidents in both Subotica, Serbia, and Split, Croatia. In Subotica, authorities recorded 21 fires in homes and businesses since the start of the heating season, a figure higher than the previous year. Zoltan Horvat, commander of the Subotica Fire and Rescue Department, attributed this increase to human error, such as faulty chimneys and electrical installations. In Split, firefighters addressed a truck fire and grass fires covering approximately 9,000 square meters of vegetation.
