A blaze erupted at the abandoned Oasi beach establishment on the Roman coast at Ostia around 15:20, prompting rapid response from fire brigades and emergency services. The structure was empty at the time, and no injuries were reported. Separately, a massive fire broke out at a plastic‑waste recycling plant in Lugnano, a hamlet of Vicopisano near Pisa. The thick black smoke traveled dozens of kilometres, reaching Pisa, Livorno and surrounding municipalities. Local mayors ordered precautionary measures, including keeping windows closed, limiting outdoor activity and suspending school classes. Authorities are conducting environmental checks to assess air quality and potential contamination.
