Authorities advised closing windows and avoiding outdoor activities while Arpae conducted air quality sampling.

In Bologna, work in community gardens on Via Salgari was halted after asbestos-containing demolition debris was discovered in waste bins.

In late August, two incidents highlighted risks of improper electronic waste disposal. On 25 August, a fire broke out at the Ca’ Asprete landfill in Tavullia, affecting approximately 400 square meters in the Babbucce zone. While firefighters contained the blaze within an hour, reports suggest it may have been triggered by a lithium battery from improperly disposed of electronic waste. Similarly, in Jesi, a waste collection vehicle caught fire after an automotive battery overheated within the compactor. Local officials emphasized that such incidents underscore the necessity of correct waste separation to prevent regional hazards.
