First aid and resuscitation training initiatives launched in Germany

Various first aid and emergency preparedness initiatives have been launched across different regions in Germany to empower citizens to act during medical emergencies.

In Engern, a new course specifically designed for individuals over 60 has commenced. Organized in collaboration with the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB), the program focuses on refreshing first aid skills and teaching crisis prevention, including how to maintain necessary household supplies for emergency situations. The inaugural session included participants from Engern, Ahe, and Kohlenstädt.

In Memmingen, local organizations held events for ‘World Restart A Heart Day’ to demonstrate resuscitation techniques. The initiative, involving the Memmingen Clinic, the Bavarian Red Cross, and local schools, provided hands-on training with mannequins and defibrillators. Officials emphasized the ‘Check, Call, Press’ method, noting that immediate bystander intervention during cardiovascular arrest significantly improves survival rates.
