Ontario wildfire smoke triggers event cancellations and fire ban

An orange air‑quality warning issued by Environment Canada because of smoke from northern Ontario wildfires led to the cancellation of the weekly "Catch the Ace" draw at the Royal Canadian Legion in Sarnia. The warning urged residents to limit outdoor activities as the smoke caused poor air quality across the province.

Fierté Sudbury Pride organizers moved most of their Saturday flagship events indoors to the Sudbury Arena, citing the same wildfire smoke and a high‑risk Air Quality Health Index forecast for the weekend.

The Timmins Fire Department reinstated a city‑wide fire ban, suspending all open‑air burning permits until further notice, after dry conditions and active wildfires raised the risk of new fires throughout the municipal area.
