Japan experiences early winter weather and first snowfalls

A winter-type pressure pattern has brought significant cold and early seasonal changes across various regions of Japan. In Aomori Prefecture, Mount Iwaki recorded its first snow cover, and Aomori City observed its first snowfall, marking the earliest occurrence in 16 years.

Other mountainous areas have also recorded their first snowfalls, including Mount Hakusan in Ishikawa Prefecture and Mount Azuma in Fukushima Prefecture. The sudden drop in temperature has led to road closures in mountainous sections of Aomori and Fukushima, and caused disruptions to some train schedules due to strong winds.

In response to the sudden cold, experts are advising residents to perform safety checks on heating appliances, such as air conditioners and electric carpets, to prevent malfunctions or fire hazards before the peak winter season begins.
