Fisherman found alive in Yucatán after drifting from Campeche
Isidro Tun Cetina, a fisherman from Lerma, Campeche, has been found alive after being missing since October 5. He was located near the coast of Celestún, Yucatán, approximately five kilometers from the shoreline.
According to the Secretaría de Marina, the fisherman experienced a mechanical failure while attempting to return to port, leaving him stranded at anchor for approximately two days. To navigate the waters, he improvised a sail using an old tarp.
Environmental conditions and sea currents, occurring during a period of tropical depression activity in the Yucatán Peninsula, drifted his vessel toward the Yucatán coast. Upon discovery, the fisherman showed signs of dehydration. The Celestún Port Authority provided food and coordinated with medical services to transport him for specialized care.
