Da Nang fishing vessel QNa-90859-TS loses contact at sea

Search and rescue operations are underway for the crew of the fishing vessel QNa-90859-TS, which lost contact in rough seas. The vessel, a 23.9-meter squid fishing boat captained by Huynh Van Tri, was last tracked on August 25 near the Truong Sa (Spratly) Islands.

Authorities have confirmed that 32 crew members have been rescued and are receiving medical care on Truong Sa Lon Island. However, the incident has resulted in at least one confirmed fatality, and 17 crew members remain missing.

Multiple agencies, including the Da Nang Border Guard and the Vietnam Coast Guard, are coordinating the search. Rescue efforts involve several coast guard vessels and local fishing boats operating in the area, where weather conditions have been reported as having level 5-6 southwest winds and heavy seas.
