Five killed in San Juan de Razos massacre in Salamanca, Mexico

On the night of 20 June 2026, gunmen opened fire on a group of civilians in the community of San Juan de Razos, Salamanca, Guanajuato, killing five people—including two minors—and wounding two others. The victims were local residents, several of whom were related cousins. A surviving victim, Emmanuel, later died in hospital, raising the death toll to six.

Authorities from the municipal government, the state security forces, the Guardia Nacional and the Mexican army deployed a security operation to the area and began investigations. The Fiscalía General del Estado confirmed that no arrests have been made and the probe is ongoing. Despite the tragedy, the patron saint festivities in San Juan de Razos are proceeding under heightened security. Local residents remembered the victims, saying, “They were young people who didn’t get involved with anyone.”
