Five-vehicle crash blocks Kifisos Avenue in Athens, causing red‑light traffic
A collision involving five vehicles – a truck, a passenger car and three motorcycles – occurred on the Kifisos Avenue heading toward Lamia. The crash halted traffic, prompting police to intervene and clear the roadway. The incident placed the road in a "red" traffic state, with long queues forming as vehicles struggled to move.
The blockage contributed to a wider traffic slowdown across Athens. Significant delays were reported on Kifisos Avenue, especially between Metamorfosi and Aigaleo in the downhill direction and from Aigaleo to Nea Ionia uphill. Congestion also affected the Mesogeion Avenue corridor near the junction with Athinon Avenue, as well as sections of Athens Avenue, Syngrou Avenue, and main routes in central Athens and Piraeus.
