FK Željezničar faces bankruptcy threat as emergency committee reports €2 million debt

The emergency committee of Bosnian football club FK Željezničar, formed after the departure of Sanin Mirvić, released a statement warning of severe financial devastation. It disclosed that the club has accrued roughly €2 million in unpaid salaries, supplier invoices, taxes and contributions, and that a large portion of the remaining transfer budget for player Al Jaber has already been spent.

The committee said the club has been operating without a board for about four months, leaving it “exposed to the threat of bankruptcy and total collapse of almost all key functions of the club.” The team is described as demoralised, lacking a head coach and a clear recruitment plan. Despite the crisis, the committee reports partial consolidation of first‑team and youth‑school operations, payment of some overdue wages, settlement of tax obligations and receipt of a tax‑authority certificate required for player registration.
