FK Željezničar financial crisis
Overview
In early August 2026 the emergency committee of Bosnian club FK Željezničar warned that the team faced a severe financial collapse, citing roughly €2 million in unpaid salaries, taxes and supplier invoices and the absence of a board for four months. The committee reported partial consolidation of first‑team and youth operations, some overdue wage payments, settlement of tax obligations and receipt of a tax‑authority certificate needed for player registration.
Two days later the club announced that eleven players would miss its opening Bosnian Premier League match because registration and permit procedures were delayed by the same unpaid tax issues. After settling taxes for April and May on 31 July, the registration process had to be restarted, leaving the squad short‑handed. Supporters’ group Manijaci reiterated the club’s precarious financial state and urged restraint and unity as Željezničar attempted to stabilise during the recovery phase.
