Lorenzo Musetti wins ATP 250 Lyon title
Lorenzo Musetti captured his third ATP Tour title by winning the Grand Prix Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes in Lyon, defeating Taylor Fritz in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4. The victory marks Musetti’s first title since 2022 and ends a streak of seven consecutive final losses.
Musetti’s path to the championship included a dramatic semifinal against fellow Italian Flavio Cobolli, where he recovered from a set down and saved four match points to win 4-6, 6-2, 7-5. Fritz reached the final after defeating American Tommy Paul 6-3, 7-5.
The win helps Musetti climb to 24th in the PIF ATP Live Rankings. Despite facing physical challenges and injuries throughout the 2026 season, the 24-year-old described the performance as his best, noting that his competitive spirit was key to the victory.
