Fleurus, Belgium and Périgueux, France launch rodent and mosquito control programs

The city of Fleurus in Belgium is organising a free rodent‑control campaign that will run from Monday 10 August to Friday 14 August 2026. Residents with rat problems can request a home visit by the contracted pest‑control firm, with registrations required by 4 August 2026 via phone or email.

In Périgueux, France, municipal authorities are supporting residents in the fight against the tiger mosquito. Since September 2022, households can receive a 40 % subsidy – up to €200 – for outdoor anti‑mosquito traps. A dedicated “brigade du tigre” provides on‑site advice, checks private gardens, and operates information stands at local markets to promote preventive actions such as removing standing water.

Both initiatives aim to improve public health by reducing pest‑borne disease risks.
