Netherlands hosts National Nature Work Days in November 2026

The 26th edition of the National Nature Work Days will take place across the Netherlands on Friday, November 6, and Saturday, November 7, 2026. This large-scale volunteer initiative involves thousands of participants working to maintain various landscapes and natural habitats.

In Overijssel, more than 50 locations are participating, with an official kickoff in the Beerze heathland area. Activities include pruning shrubs, planting flower bulbs, pollarding willows, and creating branch piles to provide shelter for small animals. In Drenthe, volunteers will work at the Westersche Veld near Rolde to prevent trees and shrubs from overtaking the heathland. Meanwhile, in Ridderkerk, volunteers can assist with willow sawing and landscape maintenance in the Waalbos.

Participants do not require prior experience, and the events are open to all ages, including children, families, and student groups. Organizations such as Stichting Landschap Overijssel and Het Drentse Landschap are coordinating local efforts to ensure the preservation of biodiversity and open landscapes.
