Flight disruptions affect 22,000 passengers on Dhaka-Saudi routes

A total of 144 flights, including 67 direct and 77 transit services, have been cancelled or suspended on routes between Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia. This disruption has affected approximately 22,021 passengers.

The flight restrictions follow security concerns at various airports in Saudi Arabia due to attacks by Houthi rebels. The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) reported that the disruptions impact multiple airlines, including Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Saudia, US-Bangla Airlines, Riyadh Air, IndiGo, Emirates, Qatar Airways, Flydubai, Air India, SalamAir, and EgyptAir.

Biman Bangladesh Airlines has announced that flights to Dammam are suspended until October 25, while all flights to Riyadh are suspended until October 31. However, flights to Jeddah and Medina continue to operate according to their original schedules. Passengers traveling to Riyadh or Dammam may use Jeddah or Medina airports as alternatives, subject to seat availability.
