Flipkart to Pilot Food Delivery Service in Bengaluru Within 30 Days

Walmart‑owned e‑commerce giant Flipkart is preparing to launch a food‑delivery pilot in Bengaluru, slated to begin within the next month. The company plans to test the service through a dedicated app and via the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC). CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy said the move treats meal delivery as a key use case for its broader platform and that the pilot will be evaluated before any wider rollout.

Flipkart’s entry targets a market where Swiggy holds about 43 % and Zomato about 57 % of orders, according to Datum Intelligence data cited by the Times of India. The retailer hopes to capture demand from younger shoppers, especially Generation‑Z consumers who are increasingly spending on experiences such as dining out.
