Félix Bolaños defends legality of Spanish Memory Law
Félix Bolaños, a key figure in Pedro Sánchez’s government, has defended the legality of the 'grandchild law' (Ley de Memoria) amid legal challenges from right-wing parties PP and Vox.
Bolaños stated that the current interpretation of the 2022 law is consistent with the 2007 Memory Law and has been applied peacefully for years. He criticized attempts by far-right organizations to claim the voter census is being artificially inflated, describing these legal challenges as an attempt to restrict democratic rights.
He has called upon the Spanish Supreme Court to provide a swift resolution regarding both precautionary measures and the merits of the case to ensure clarity for future electoral processes.
