Flogas raises Irish residential electricity and gas prices by up to 12%

Irish energy supplier Flogas announced that from 20 July residential customers on standard variable price plans will face higher bills: electricity will rise by 10.9 % (about €4.11 per week) and natural gas by 11.8 % (about €3.47 per week). The company cited ongoing volatility in global energy markets, geopolitical tensions and sustained market pressures as the reasons for the increase.

Donegal Deputy Pearse Doherty condemned the hikes, saying they will add roughly €400 a year to household energy costs and urging the government to reinstate energy credits. He highlighted that more than half a million household accounts are already in arrears, with around 320,000 families unable to pay electricity bills and one in four gas customers behind on payments.
