Flood Impact Declines in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh

The flood situation in Assam has improved, with the Assam State Disaster Management Authority reporting about 25,100 people still affected in the Dhemaji (over 21,000) and Dibrugarh (nearly 4,000) districts. The death toll remains at one. Four relief camps shelter 129 displaced persons, and authorities have distributed rice, dal, salt and mustard oil. Fifty‑two villages stay inundated, crops over 393 ha are damaged, and infrastructure such as embankments, roads and bridges has been harmed. More than 55,000 domestic animals and poultry have also suffered.

In Arunachal Pradesh, clearer weather has eased flooding. The State Emergency Operation Centre says only 24 villages in West Siang and seven villages in Papum Pare remain affected. No new casualties, missing persons or injuries were reported. Restoration work continues on the Potin‑Hoj road in Keyi Panyor district and on the Nyodu‑Sibe Siru road in Lepa Rada district, while officials monitor water supply and damaged infrastructure.
