Midwest US faces widespread flooding from heavy rain

Multiple regions across the central United States are facing significant flooding risks due to heavy rainfall. The National Weather Service has issued flood watches and warnings for parts of Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, and Missouri.

In Nebraska, Fillmore and York Counties are under a flood warning as the West Fork Big Blue River continues to experience minor flooding. Automated gauges indicate water levels remain above flood stage, affecting pastures and fields in areas such as McCool Junction.

In Missouri, a flood warning has been issued for the Grand River near Brunswick, impacting Chariton and Carroll Counties. The river is forecast to rise above flood stage, with potential flooding of low-lying areas along both banks near the U.S. Highway 24 bridge.

Authorities urge residents to exercise caution and avoid driving through flooded roadways, noting that most flood-related fatalities occur in vehicles.
