Flood watches active in Idaho and Utah due to multi-day storm

A multi-day storm system is bringing heavy rain and flood watches to parts of the Intermountain West. In eastern Idaho, a flood watch remains active through Sunday as the system draws tropical moisture from Tropical Storm Rachel into the Great Basin and California.

Rainfall amounts in the Magic Valley, Snake Plain, and eastern highlands are expected to range from 1.0 to 2.0 inches, with localized totals exceeding 3.0 inches in higher terrain. Precipitation chances in eastern Idaho are as high as 100% on Sunday. Temperatures are expected to drop, with daytime highs in the 40s to 50s Fahrenheit.

In Salt Lake City, Utah, a flood watch is also in effect, with a 100% chance of rain forecast for October 11-12.
