Storm Rachel weather impacts in Western US
Overview
A multi-day storm system, fueled by tropical moisture from Tropical Storm Rachel, has moved across the Intermountain West, bringing heavy rain and flood watches to eastern Idaho and parts of Utah.
As the system transitioned into post-tropical storm Rachel, it moved inland across the Western United States, extending the risk of flash flooding from Southern California to Wyoming. In addition to heavy rainfall and forceful winds, the weather shift brought the season’s first snowfall to Utah’s mountains, including the Cottonwood Canyons and the Uinta Mountains.
