Flooding causes widespread agricultural damage in Vietnam

Heavy rainfall and prolonged flooding have caused significant agricultural damage across several regions in Vietnam. In Tay Tuu, Hanoi, flower farmers are facing severe losses as crops such as chrysanthemums, lilies, and roses have been submerged for four days. In some areas, water levels reached up to 1 meter, leaving fields covered in mud and destroying plants that were nearing harvest.

In Thanh Hoa province, specifically in Yen Phu commune, approximately 1,000 hectares of crops have been affected, including nearly 300 hectares of pineapple plantations. Farmers report that the prolonged submersion is causing the pineapples to rot and turn yellow. Given the 18-month growth cycle of pineapples, these losses represent not only the immediate destruction of crops but also the loss of significant long-term investments in seeds, fertilizer, and labor.
