Flooding hits Ibiza and Formentera following heavy rains
Persistent heavy rainfall has caused significant flooding across the islands of Ibiza and Formentera in Spain. In Formentera, emergency services recorded 18 incidents on Monday, including 17 related to flooding and one electrical fire, following 56 incidents reported on Sunday. Emergency response efforts involve the Consell Insular de Formentera, IBANAT forest firefighters, the Military Emergencies Unit (UME), the Civil Guard, and local police.
In Ibiza, the flooding has impacted streets, businesses, and parking facilities. In the municipality of Santa Eulària, specifically at the es Canar parking lot, vehicles were submerged up to their hoods, requiring crane rescues to recover them. Emergency teams continue to work on clearing accumulated water from roads, such as the PM-820, and managing damage to public and private buildings.
