Flora metro station closure extended until February 2027

The Flora metro station in Prague will remain closed for three months longer than originally planned. The station is now expected to reopen at the end of February 2027, rather than in early December.

The delay is due to the discovery of necessary structural repairs to the station's ceiling slab that were not included in the initial project scope. According to the Prague Public Transit Company (DPP), an expert assessment from the Klokner Institute at the Czech Technical University confirmed that reinforced concrete and steel beams across much of the platform ceiling must be replaced, and missing fire protection layers must be added.

DPP Transport Director Jan Barchánek stated that the company cannot ignore the expert findings despite the inconvenience. The reconstruction, which includes replacing tiles, technology, and escalators, is estimated to cost 1.29 billion CZK excluding VAT. Following the reopening, work will continue for approximately one year to construct a new elevator system. This delay is not expected to impact the scheduled reconstruction of the Hradčanská station, which is set to close in January 2027.
