Prague Flora metro station reconstruction delay

Overview

The reopening of the Flora metro station on Prague’s Line A has been delayed from December 2026 to the end of February 2027. This extension follows an expert assessment by the Klokner Institute at the Czech Technical University, which identified necessary structural repairs to the platform ceiling that were not in the original project scope.

Required work includes replacing reinforced concrete and steel beams, as well as adding missing fire protection layers. The Prague Public Transit Company (DPP) noted that a partial reopening is not feasible because the structural repairs must occur at the platform level, rendering the station unsafe for limited operation.

The total reconstruction cost is estimated at 1.29 billion CZK excluding VAT. The delay means that both Flora and Hradčanská stations will be closed simultaneously for a brief period, as Hradčanská is scheduled to close in early January 2027 for escalator replacements.
