Florence to host 46th COSPAR scientific assembly in August 2026
Florence, Italy will host the 46th scientific assembly of the Committee on Space Research (COSPAR) from 1‑9 August 2026 at the Fortezza da Basso.
The meeting, organized by the Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica (INAF), expects more than 3,000 specialists from about 80 countries and will feature over 360 sessions covering planetary missions, deep‑space research, climate studies and the use of artificial intelligence for satellite data processing.
COSPAR President Pascale Ehrenfreund emphasized the event’s role in fostering international cooperation in space research, while INAF President Roberto Ragazzoni highlighted the transition toward a “space economy” and the new scientific, technological, political and cultural challenges it brings.
