Florence to host event on fascism and political resistance
A public event titled “NUOVI E VECCHI FASCISMI – NUOVE E VECCHIE RESISTENZE” is scheduled for September 29 at Piazza Tanucci in Florence. Organized by a coalition including ANPI, CGIL Firenze, and the Tanucci Piazza Aperta community, the initiative aims to analyze the evolution of political landscapes.
The program features discussions on the international movement of fascism within Europe and the rise of the “Black Galaxy,” a term describing various far-right and neo-fascist organizations. Rather than focusing solely on historical symbols, the event will examine contemporary mechanisms such as systematic disinformation, political polarization, and attacks on democratic values and human rights.
Additionally, the event will include readings of stories from partisans and citizens who participated in the liberation of the local district, highlighting historical resistance efforts.
