Flores earthquake recovery: BNPB verifies housing damage

The National Disaster Management Authority (BNPB) is focusing on verifying damage data following the 7.7 magnitude earthquake in Flores, East Nusa Tenggara. The disaster caused massive physical damage, affecting approximately 98,986 homes and 3,266 public facilities, with the most significant impact in Manggarai and East Manggarai regencies.

To assist recovery, the BNPB is implementing a stimulus scheme for housing repairs: Rp15 million for light damage, Rp30 million for moderate damage, and the provision of temporary housing or waiting funds for those with severely damaged homes before new type-36 houses are built.

Logistics distribution has reached 98.39 percent of the target, totaling 2,142 tons delivered via aircraft and sea vessels. As seismic activity decreases, the number of displaced persons has dropped to 72,864, aided by the full restoration of electricity, telecommunications, and fuel stations.
