Flores earthquake relief efforts launched by government and universities

Various organizations and academic institutions have launched relief efforts for communities affected by earthquakes on Flores Island, Nusa Tenggara Timur.

The Indonesian Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) distributed initial aid including food packages, cash assistance, and tarpaulins to residents in Manggarai Barat, Manggarai Timur, Manggarai, and Nagekeo.

Academic institutions are providing specialized support. Universitas Brawijaya (UB) alumni donated Rp122 million for local residents and affected students, while university volunteers provided medical services and psychosocial support to address anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in Manggarai.

Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) deployed personnel to install water filtration systems to address clean water shortages in Reo, alongside providing medical logistics. Similarly, Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) volunteers provided medical examinations and mental health support in Manggarai Timur, treating issues ranging from malnutrition and respiratory infections to psychological distress.
