Florianópolis advances 35‑year CentroSul concession and intensifies illegal‑occupation operation

The Florianópolis municipal government issued an invitation for the 35‑year concession of the CentroSul Convention Center. The contract will cover management, operation and commercial exploitation, with the highest initial outlay winning the right. Bids must start at a minimum of R$ 16.5 million, plus an annual fee of R$ 250 000 adjusted by the IPCA index. The process, coordinated with the stock‑exchange operator B3, will accept proposals until 14 September 2026, with a public auction on 18 September 2026. Officials say the partnership aims to turn CentroSul into a national benchmark for large‑scale events and to boost tourism‑related revenue for hotels, restaurants and local commerce.

Separately, the municipality continues its Operação Solo Legal programme, a task‑force formed to prevent illegal land‑fills, clandestine parceling and construction contrary to the city’s master plan. Since its launch in September 2025, the operation has completed eleven phases, demolished 171 unauthorized structures and reinforced compliance in several neighbourhoods. Coordinated by the Secretariat of Security and Order Public and supported by the Department of Urban Inspection, the initiative imposes fines, work stoppages or demolition where owners fail to regularise. Vice‑mayor and security secretary Maryanne Mattos highlighted the operation’s role in preserving urban order and protecting the environment.
