Curitiba begins construction of new pedestrian walkway in downtown

Construction has begun on a new pedestrian walkway in downtown Curitiba, designed to connect Praça Santos Andrade and Teatro Guaíra. The project is part of the ‘Curitiba de Volta ao Centro’ program and aims to create a space for coexistence, landscaping, and cultural events.

The works involve the total closure of the block on Rua Conselheiro Laurindo between Amintas de Barros and XV de Novembro streets. This intervention will cause traffic diversions for vehicles and alter the route of the 150-C Música / V. Alegre bus line. Additionally, bus stops and taxi stands in the immediate vicinity will be temporarily relocated.

The project, developed by the Institute of Research and Urban Planning of Curitiba (Ippuc), is expected to be completed by the end of the year to coincide with the Curitiba Christmas programming.
